Synopsis
Edward and Alphonse are left in a new reality that is catastrophic after their horrific alchemy experiment fails in the Elric household. The boys rejected the alchemical principle that prohibits human transmutation and instead endeavored to revive their deceased mother. Why? Rather than recovering, they suffered a brutal loss of life: Alphonse's body fell apart, and Edward had to lose limbs before being saved by an arm that he had tied to hulk-busting armor.
Pinako Rockbell, the neighbor of theirs, and her granddaughter Winry save them. A bio-mechanical genius named Winry uses "automail," a durable and adaptable metal found in robots and combat armor, to produce Edward's artificial limbs. Having undergone years of training, the Elric brothers set out to heal their bodies by discovering the Philosopher's Stone, a precious gem that allows an alchemist to defy the traditional laws of Equivalent Exchange. With the arrival of Edward's newfound popularity and alchemy as "Fullmetal," the boys embark on a journey that culminates in an expanding conspiracy that threatens the world.
