Theatre of Darkness: Yamishibai - Plot Summary
The yellow-masked Storyteller is a mysterious man. No one knows his real name or where he comes from. He shows up at dusk when children come together and tells scary stories based on Japanese legends. The kids listen closely, fascinated by his tales. But the Storyteller is not just any storyteller. He uses a kamishibai, a special paper device, to show pictures while he tells his creepy stories.
Yami Shibai is a collection of short scary tales. It starts with a man who moves into a new apartment and soon feels a frightening stare on him. There is a single charm on his ceiling, but he doesn’t realize it is one of the few things keeping him safe from a world of pain. Each story gets scarier and more disturbing than the last, pulling the audience deeper into the haunting world of his words.
