Satoru Mikami is a 37-year-old office worker in Tokyo. He’s okay with his dull routine, but he has never had a girlfriend. One day, while out with a coworker, he gets attacked and stabbed by a stranger. As he lies there hurt, he hears a strange voice in his head giving him commands that he doesn’t understand.
When Satoru wakes up, he finds he has come back to life as a blob of slime in a strange new world. Now, he has some exciting new abilities, like the power to eat things and copy how they look and what they can do. Soon, he meets Veldora, a powerful monster that has been trapped for 300 years after destroying a town. Understanding Veldora’s situation, Satoru becomes his friend and promises to help free him. In return, Veldora gives him the name Rimuru Tempest, which offers him protection.
Now free from his old life, Rimuru starts a new adventure with a different purpose. As he gets used to being slime, his silly actions start to change his destiny in this new world.
